ROBIN

Robin is a bit crazy, a bit politically incorrect and swears a bit much.....
So I never went into a gym until I was in my late 20’s early 30’s! I was always an active kid and loved sport and actually went very far and represented my province in athletics and hockey! Then I started teenaging and that meant drinking, partying and working to do all of this!
I then got married and started studying while living in London and piled on the pounds. Cold weather + excessive study+ cheap crappy food = fat unhappy (but educated) woman.
So I started gyming- like I tackled my work and my study – with determination and drive……. Fast forward to today and I have hung up my lawyers coat, put away my accountant calculator and taken to the life of yoga pants and gym attire….. and loving it!
I’ve been fortunate enough to have competed internationally in body building competitions, powerlifting competitions and I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie and will pretty much try anything for fun: climbing Kilimanjaro, Hang gliding off Table Mountain, tough mudders, obstacle courses of all shapes and sizes and I can even proudly say I have done a triathlon.
My passion is in walking the path to a healthy life-style with others, I get a great deal of satisfaction in seeing people achieve their goals and to get to a happy place where body image is not everything but overall happiness and contentment is!!!!

JADE

Philosophy – Hard work and determination can outweigh genetics
Fitness and a well-balanced healthy eating lifestyle is my life in a nutshell and has been since I was a teenager struggling with being quite overweight and severely lacking self-confidence. Over the years I changed my life for the better by joining my first gym and began changing my life for the better losing 15kgs.
Fast forward to January 2015 to when I decided to make the decision to compete in my first fitness competition in June. With that decision came many challenges and struggles however each and every hurdle made me a more determined woman and proved to me that no matter what life throws at you, you are the beholder to your success and to never give up. June 2016 I can proudly say that I have competed in 4 fitness competitions taking home a 3rd & 5th place.
My passion is fitness, living a long healthy life and having the opportunity and ability to assist people to the path to success, which made my decision to complete my Certificate 3 & 4 in Fitness an easy decision.
I am passionate about being able to help a client change their body, life and gain confidence in the process to achieve whatever your heart/mind desires. No one should ever feel that they can’t make a change because anything is possible, however it us up to you to begin the journey to success!

SANDIE

My interest in health and fitness began about 10 years ago. I was overweight, had constant niggling back pain and little energy. During a visit to my chiropractor, I asked her “apart from the stretching exercises, what else can I do?” Her reply was to be active and lose a “bit of weight”. So, I joined a gym.
When I joined the gym, my goal was not a weight loss number. It was to go to the gym 3 days a week. I didn’t know if I would maintain that. I was fortunate enough to join a gym that had great staff who were more than happy to help and suggested that I take some classes and build up my strength and core strength. That was great news because I hated the thought of cardio!
Three days a week quickly turned into 4, 5, 6, 7 days a week and sometimes twice a day. It is fair to say that I enjoyed it. The weight loss came slowly but so did the muscle, toning and fitness.
The surprising benefit to training was the psychological benefits. I felt calmer, was able to deal with stress better and slept better. Many people I have met in the gym have said that they have had serious issues in their lives and going to the gym has helped them cope.
These benefits is what lead me to undertake my Cert III in Fitness.
For me, joining a gym does not mean you have to set goals based on weight loss or a lifting weight. If you do that’s great but a holistic approach to life is also a great goal.
Live a healthy lifestyle – be active, eat well and enjoy life. Training energizes the body and relaxes the mind! If you are new to training – welcome. Stick with it. At first everything is daunting but it gets easier as you get stronger and fitter.

TERENCE

Born in Bloemfontein, South Africa a farming town that produced two of my idols Os Durandt from Rugby union fame and Gerrit Badenhorst better known as the strongest man who never won world’s strongest man. At an early age, I was interested in strength training, for as long as I can remember I had a steel pipe that I would tie bricks to, that I used as a barbell to powerlift with, every night before bed I would do my exercises, finishing off with bench pressing on my bed.
As soon as I turned sixteen I joined the local gym and was surprised that I could already lift more than most of the men in the gym. I had no interest in competing as I was playing a lot of the more mainstream sports at school and powerlifting was a fringe sport that nobody understood, my mother still to this day thinks I do body building.
I applied at the local gym to become a fitness instructor and within in a year I was a PT, by this time I was living in a larger town with a better equipped gym and a few of the local guys did strongman and powerlifting.
I spent a few years traveling and the training became erratic, I still made do with homemade implements and this is what opened the door to strongman style training. In the United Kingdom, I had access to strongman gyms and began competing in strongman.
I have had the privilege of training and competing with some of the strongest people alive, I have taken this knowledge and trained a number of powerlifters to excel at the wonderful sport of powerlifting.
My training has not changed over the years and I still make do with whatever I can get my hands on, I personally enjoy all aspects of lifting from strongman to body building and my staple at the moment powerlifting.
I have had a few moments in my career when I have doubted what I do, it’s all consuming and a few years ago, I decided to pack it all up and try and lead a normal life, I stopped training and tried to find myself, I tried to convince myself that I enjoyed all the 'free time' I suddenly had. It was a struggle and I am happy I conceded and got back into the gym, I am even more committed to the life of iron and have realised that there is no escaping this addiction. I am loving working in the industry again and chasing my strength sport dreams.
I also enjoy giving hugs, restoring classic cars and taking long walks in the forest with my dogs.
